Hada Labo Hydrating Lotion Light Review

Anyeong yeorobun~

Today I am reviewing a much hype product, Hada Labo Hydrating Lotion they have the original version which the first generation Hada Labo Lotion – slightly denser than the light version. The original version is for dry/normal skin while the light version is more for normal/combination/oily skin. I used the original version years back and this review is a long overdue, I will review both version and compare both in this post. This is a popular product which is widely available in major drugstore. According to Hada Labo (website) they first launched in Japan in 2004, its star product, Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Lotion is a clear favourite with beauty lovers and is ranked as the No.1 Japan lotion for 7 consecutive years and sold more than 30 million bottles. The key ingredients in Hada Labo products are Hyaluronic Acid (HA), Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a substance naturally occurring in the human body that attracts and binds water. It acts as a lubricant in our eyes, joints, skin, and other tissues; with age, skin produce less and less HA resulting to drier and less elastic skin, read more about the science behind HA below which cited from their website. Read until the end of the post to find out my rating for these products.

Why Hada Labo is intensely Hyrating? (Acoording to Hada Labo website)

In youth, our skin is rich with HA—and our bodies readily produce it. With age and exposure to the sun's UVA and UVB rays though, our skin cells produce less and less HA. The result is drier, less elastic skin. With a reduced ability to retain moisture, skin also becomes wrinkled.

Dehydrated skin often has a higher skin pH level. HADA LABO products are formulated between a pH level of 5.0 and 6.5, helping balance your skin's pH level to maintain healthy, moisturized skin.

Super Hyaluronic Acid (SHA) replenishes the skin’s hydrating ability with two times the moisture-retention capacity of Hyaluronic Acid. Super Hyaluronic Acid, a patent pending ingredient, anchors to the different layers on the epidermis. As a result SHA has superior moisture-retention properties.

How to use?
After cleansing with Face Wash, pour a pea-size amount into your palm and rub between hands to heat. Using the Hada Labo Patting Technique, gently pat onto face and neck until thoroughly absorbed. Wait until the product fully absorbed to apply additional moisturizers. Use twice daily after washing face.

Hada Labo Patting Technique:
With its concentrated formulations, only a small amount of HADA LABO product is required. In many cases, warming by rubbing between the palms of the hands and then systematically patting on the face and neck is the recommended application. This patting technique enhances absorption and the moisturizing power of HADA LABO. Paired with circulation-boosting massage and other pampering rituals, it yields luxuriously effective results. My thoughts:
The packing is in the bottle plastic with plastic lift cap, no pump. The Original version has an orange theme and the Light version green theme. The lotion is clear / transparent and scentless; consistency of the original version is richer and the lighter version much more runny. Both are easily spread and absorbs quickly. I prefer the lighter version, the consistency is just perfect. I found the original version slightly tacky. Both version of lotion indeed hydrate my skin really well. I don’t find difference in the effectiveness of both products, neither one is more superior to the other in term of effectiveness in delivering hydration to my skin. I prefer the lighter version since it is much runny and quicker to absorb compared to the original version besides I find the lighter version suitable for my combination skin type as recommended by Hada Labo. In addition it really preps my skin to absorb other layers of skin care. Bottom line this is hands down by far the best hydrating lotion I’ve tried, it really lock moisture on my skin and the hydration last throughout the day unlike any other lotion. Hyaluronic Acid I am impressed! Good bye dry skin!

Pros
-Colourless, scentless, no mineral, no fragrance, no alcohol
-Light weight, absorbs quickly
-Lock moisture on my skin and hydration last throughout the day
-Preps skin to absorb layering of skincare
-Affordable
-Reputable brand
-Available widely in major drugstore and online

Cons
Contains paraben which is a controversial ingredient
