Anyeong yeorobun~

If you are one of those who frequently google about a product rating/review before buying them, I’m sure you have come across Paula’s Choice, it’s a popular US brand. She did research and exposed truth about unsafe skincare ingredients on her bestselling books. She became famous and started her own skincare lines. All of Paula’s Choice products are manufactured in the US, no animal testing, non-irritating and 100% money back guarantee. You can read Paula’s story on her official website. Now Paula’s Choice is available in Singapore and also Malaysia. Today I’m reviewing Paula’s Choice Resist Perfectly Balanced Foaming Cleanser.

Creamy milky consistency

Foam decently

My thoughts
At first I thought this product is a foam cleanser since the product named "....foaming cleanser" end up it was actually more like a creamy/milk cleanser that foam. It does foam a bit, the consistency is milky and creamy, it's a very gentle cleanser and I really love how it is soapy and my skin feels clean and hydrated after using the cleanser. It doesn't irritate my skin and remove my light makeup. It doesn't leave skin taut and dry after cleansing; my skin feels hydrated, soft and clean after using this cleanser. Another favourite cleanser for me.

Pros
Non irritating
Gentle cleanser
Foam decently and soapy
Clean light makeup
Leaves skin hydrated, clean and soft

Cons

Eucerin Aquaporin Mist Spray Review

Anyeong~

Today review is for Eucerin Aquaporin Mist Spray which I believed was launched last year. I bought this from Watson during purchase with purchase promotion which is super worth it. It’s about RM7 per bottle of 50ml, otherwise RM15 to RM18 per bottle. That’s almost 50% saving. I use this mist spray before toner sometimes and also during on the go to keep my skin hydrated. I’m intrigue to buy because of the hydraulic ingredients in this mist spray, which is star ingredients made famous by Hada Labo. I’ve tried and reviewed Avene & The Body Shop mist spray which you can find in this blog.

Product Profile
Product Name: Eucerin Aquaporin Mist Spray
Origin: Poland
Content: 50ml
Price: RM18 (price may vary)
Available: Watson / Guardian
Function: Mist Spray

Description behind

Product Description from Eucerin Website
Skin needs water to work efficiently and effectively. Well hydrated skin is smooth and supple and looks radiant. When skin’s natural protection barrier is compromised, it loses moisture and becomes dehydrated. Dehydrated skin looks dull, feels tight and is unable to keep external irritants at bay. As a result, it becomes sensitive. Intense and long-lasting hydration is necessary to keep skin looking and feeling its best.

Other mist spray without hydrating ingredients is unable to bind moisture as pure water evaporates fast, making skin even drier than before and eventually becomes sensitive.  The unique formula in  Eucerin AQUAporin Mist Spray enhances skin’s own hydration system, distributes water evenly, locks in moisture, makes skin smooth and radiant.

Aquaporins are microscopic channels, which transport water between skin cells and support skin hydration from within. Eucerin AQUAporin ACTIVE enhances their natural strength. All formulas contain Gluco Glycerol, a state-of-the-art hydrating ingredient, which is proven to increase the number of Aquaporins in the skin. This means that, in addition to limiting evaporation and binding water into the outer layers of skin, Eucerin AQUAporin ACTIVE enhances skin’s own hydration system.

1st ever mist spray that retain moisture long lastingly without drying out skin. Locks in moisture by 30x leaves skin radiant. 10 in 1 benefit:
30x more hydration
Locks in moisture
Distributes water evenly
Soothes irritated skin
Cooling effect
Refines pore
Anti-aging
Smoothes skin
Brigthens skin
Refreshes skin

How to use?
Hold the can at 20cm distance from skin and spray anytime to face, neck and decollete.

Ingredients:
Aqua   Butylene Glycol   Sodium Hyaluronate   Glycerin   Glyceryl Glucoside   Panthenol   Arginine HCL   Sodium Citrate   Trisodium EDTA   1,2-Hexanediol   Phenoxyethanol

Based on Cosdna analysis mostly safe ingredients except for Phenoxyethanol flagged moderate risk.

My thoughts:
This mist is packaged in a pressurized metal container with spray and plastic cap. I like how mini the size of the 50ml - which is travel friendly; makes it easily for me to carry on the go. The mist from the spray came out fine with broad angle which is good, the last thing you want in a spray mist is narrow angle and thick spritz. No obvious scent found; it does feel cooling/soothing on my skin and doesn’t leave oily or greasy residue on skin. Leaves skin hydrated and supple for few hours. Definitely one of the best mist spray out there.

Pros
Long lasting hydration
Travel friendly
Fine mist with broad angle
Fragrance free, paraben free
Quick Absorption

Cons
Non so far

Skinfood Aqua Grape Bounce Bubble Serum Review

Anyeong~

Today review is for Skinfood Aqua Grape Bounce Bubble Serum. The same range as the Aqua Bubble Cream I reviewed before. The main function of this serum is to replenish moist and elasticity to skin, it’s another anti-aging serum. My first impression on this serum was the heavy glass bottle with beautiful gradient colour of blue-green on it, reminded me of the sea and the letter in a bottle thing.

 Packing in bottle

Description behind the bottle

Product Profile:
Product Name: Skinfood Aqua Grape Bounce Bubble Serum
Origin: Korea
Content: 120ml
Price: RM105
Available: Skinfood / Guardian
Function: Serum for anti-aging

Product Description from Skinfood website
An antioxidant bubble serum that replenishes moist elasticity to skin with bouncy bubbles, just like aqua grape. The moisturizing energy of 20% sea grape extract and 40% deep sea water from Ulleungdo. Dense moisture and antioxidant firming energy found in the sea immediately moisturize dry skin without vitality and keep it healthy and firm.

How to use?
Dispense Bubble Serum on your palms. Gently cover your face with your hands to apply the product. Lightly pat for 10 seconds or more to burst bubbles and let them absorb into skin.

Ingredients:
Caulerpa Lentillifera Extract, Water, Sea Water, Propanediol, Polydecene, Glycerin, Beta-Glucan, Opuntia Ficus-Indica Stem Extract, Alcohol Denat., Diethoxyethyl Succinate, Butylene Glycol, Peg-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Undaria Pinnatifida Extract, Arginine, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Carbomer, Acacia Senegal Gum, Gelatin, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Adenosine, Disodium Edta, Sodium Hyaluronate, Xanthan Gum, Canola Oil, Tocopherol, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Citric Acid, Peg-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Ppg-26-Buteth-26, Hizikia Fusiforme Extract, Polyglyceryl-3 Polyricinoleate, Ascorbic Acid, Tripeptide-29, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4, Argania Spinosa Kernel Extract, Hexylene Glycol, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, 1, 2-Hexanediol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Caprylyl Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance

Based on Cosdna analysis mostly safe ingredients with a few yellow flagged moderate risk ingredients. Check if you are sensitive to the ingredients.

My thoughts:
The serum is transparent and runny with bubbles that you can burst. Not many serum where you can pop and burst bubbles, it’s a fun serum. The texture is gel like but runny. The scent is light - slightly perfume like scented. The serum came in a heavy glass bottle with pretty cyan colour. The serum is not oily at all, it’s lightweight, gel like and easily absorb on skin; even with a few layer of application, it sits well on skin without greasy or sticky feeling. I didn’t find this serum make any obvious difference on my skin, although it does moisturize my skin at the time of application, but it didn’t lock in the hydration thereafter. For the price it is a disappointing product for me.

Can you see the tiny bubble?

Pour serum on your hand and dab gently

Tiny bubbles

Pros:
Lightweight, not sticky or oily, easily absorb by skin
Packed in a pretty looking bottle
Hydrating

Cons:
Makes no obvious improvement on skin
Expensive
Doesn’t lock in moisture on skin

Goodal Anti-Wrinkle Want Night Sleep Cream Pack (Lavender Aroma Oil) Review

Anyeong yeorobun~

Another overdue review, I’m reviewing Goodal Anti-Wrinkle Want Night Sleep Cream Pack (Lavender Aroma Oil). This is suitable for all skin types, especially for those with dry skin, fine lines/wrinkles. The brand Goodal is known for its focus on fermented ingredients and is a sister company to Clio brand. Sleep Pack is also known as sleeping mask. An intense hydrating therapy that replenish your skin while you snooze away and wake up to a radiant hydrated skin in the morning. I did a mistake by applying too much of night pack when I first adding sleep pack to my skincare routine and end up with messy gooey pillow, the right way is actually just apply a small amount and massage gently to absorb. Let’s review the product!

How To:
At the last step of night skincare routine apply the sleeping pack generously on face and neck. Rinse off with lukewarm water the next morning.

Came with inner lid and spatula

Thick creamy consistency

The cream is stringy and thick

Ingredients:
Water, Glycerin, Niacinamide, Butylene Glycol, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cyclohexasiloxane, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Xanthan Gum, Phenoxyethanol, Bis-PEG-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane, Eclipta Prostrata Extract, Caprylyl Glycol, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Disodium EDTA, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Candida Bombicola/Sucrose/Vegetable Acid Ester Ferment, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Water, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Water, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Monarda Didyma Leaf Extract

Based on skincarisma analysis, 82% of the ingredients are low risk, 9% moderate risk and 9% unknown.

My thoughts:
The cream came in a plastic tube with an inner cover lid inside and a plastic spatula + spatula holder. The cream colour is pale yellow and texture is very unique - thick, dense, chewy and stringy; it’s one of a kind texture that I’ve never seen before. Once applied it appeared shiny on my skin and with all the layering of skin care, it’s tacky and doesn’t absorb completely. The scent of the product is similar to the other goodal products I’ve tried, I’m disappointed since I’m expecting prominent lavender aroma scent which was labelled on the tube itself “Lavender Aroma Oil”. Instead the scent is similar to mixture of essential oil scent with very faint lavender scent if you sniff hard, bottom line this sleeping pack is just lightly scented. I believe the Lavender scent should be prominent since the idea is to provide aroma therapy effect to promote better sleep. I tried the product on my hand as well, and noticed it form a film barrier on my skin and repelling to water when in contact.  As you can imagine this pack forms a layer of seal on skin and it stick on my pillow too even though I applied just a thin layer. In the morning, my skin feels supple and hydrated. No visible improvement on fine lines. With applying small amount nightly, this tube last like forever, the tube label indicated best to 12 months once open and I still have balance left after 12 months long. I bought this sleeping pack after liking their soothing gel and spray, ahh what a disappointment. I don’t think I will re-purchase this for now.

Pros
Hydrating
Nature based ingredients
Free of Parabens, Synthetic Dyes & Fragrances, Mineral Oils
Hygienic packing came with spatula

Cons
Sticky feeling
No visible improvement on fine lines
Expensive
No obvious Lavender aroma

Percy & Reed Volumising No Oil Oil for Fine Hair Review

Anyeong yeorobun~

Here is a review for Percy Reed Volumising No Oil Oil for Fine Hair. Bought this hair oil from Sephora, I found this brand concept looks chic and trendy, I chosen this hair oil for my fine hair. This multi-purpose hair oil claims to nourish, repair, add volume and protect hair from heat. Sounds good? Continue to read till the end to find out my conclusion about this hair oil.

Warm the oil in the palm of your hand and lightly run a large brush over the oil. Apply to the hair with the brush, smoothing any flyaways.

Ingredients:
Aqua, alcohol denat, parfum, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil,  PEG-12  demethicone, hydroxyethylcellulose, polyquaternium-4, Disodium ETDA, Panthenol, Hydrolyzed wheat protein, PG-Propyl Silanetriol, Glycerin, Magnesium Nitrate, Benzyl Alcohol, Viola odorata leaf extract, phenoxyethanol, Magnesium chloride, Methylisothiazolinone, Butylparaben, Ethlyparaben, Isobutylparaben, Propylparaben.

Cosdna analysis here.

My thoughts:
A few of the ingredients mainly preservatives rated as safety concern. Better safe than sorry try not to in direct contact with scalp and wash hand after used. The oil consistency is not too thick nor too runny, scented in clear transparent colour. The scent linger on my hair and hands quite a while, which is quite annoying since I don’t really enjoy the scent. I used this oil both on damp and dry hair. It doesn’t weight down my hair which is good and it absorb quickly on hair without feeling oily. It doesn’t add shine on my hair, nor does it add volume, what a disappointment. It does smooth out flyaways hair that’s about it. Overall just an average hair oil with an expensive price tag, since many other hair oil with a cheaper price tag can perform the same result. This will not be a re-purchase item for me.
